Topsoe ULSD Technology and Catalysts are to be Applied at Ineos Lavera Refinery in France

28 June 2006 11:43

During 2006 Ineos will commission two revamped ULSD plants with a combined design capacity of more than 60,000 BPSD at their Lavera Refinery. These two plants are currently being revamped based on Topsoe technology and catalysts. The optimal revamp of the plants was defined in close cooperation between Ineos process experts and Topsoe specialists. Based on the results of optimisation studies, the basic engineering package was specified by Topsoe during 2004, with detailed design in early 2005.

Besides providing the basic engineering services, Topsoe is supplying high efficiency "Vapor-Lift" reactor internals for two new reactors, some high activity TK catalysts and construction support services.

The revamped ULSD plants will allow the Lavera Refinery to produce ULSD with maximum ten ppmw of sulphur based on severe feedstock blends including high sulphur straight-run gas oil, visbroken gas oil and light cycle oil from FCC. The two units will, besides diesel, have the flexibility to process gasoline or heating oil. The revamp was accomplished within a narrow budget which was made possible by innovative solutions.
