Topsoe selected for Saudi Methanol Company's (AR-RAZI) new 5,000 MTPD methanol plant project
Topsoe has been awarded a contract by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the supply of Topsoe two-step reforming technology for a new 5,000 MTPD methanol plant project for the Saudi Methanol Company (AR-RAZI) at their existing site in Al-jubail in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Methanol Company (AR-RAZI) is a 50:50 joint venture between Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and a Japanese consortium lead by Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC).
The scope of supply by Topsoe for AR-RAZI V comprises: License, Basic Engineering, Proprietary equipment and catalysts.
"The selection of our two-step reforming technology for this very important new methanol plant project is based on the recognition of our extensive experience with the technology", says Jørgen Gøl, Director of Marketing and Sales, Technology Division of Haldor Topsoe A/S.
The new methanol plant is scheduled for start-up first quarter 2008. After the start-up of the new AR-RAZI V methanol plant the annual methanol production of this production site will reach 5 million tons, and it will become the world's largest single production site for methanol.
