The company designs and manufactures steam turbines, API 618 reciprocating gas compressors, gas engine based CHP systems and a wide range of special purpose machinery and supports them with an international spares and service organisation. Peter Brotherhood was established in 1867 and over the years has exported and installed equipment in more than 100 countries around the world.

API 618 RECIPROCATING GAS COMPRESSORS

Peter Brotherhood specialise in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of API 618 reciprocating gas compressors as complete packaged units incorporating the prime mover, gas processing plant, instrumentation and controls.

The company has considerable experience in providing compressor systems for refineries, petrochemical plants, gas processing plants, fuel gas boosters and FPSO vessels.

Peter Brotherhood compressors are rated up to 20mW and operate between 260rpm and 1,000rpm. The company’s experience covers a wide range of gas mixtures including corrosive and hazardous gases.

The compressors are designed to operate at slow to medium running speeds with variable strokes to give maximum reliability, smooth operation and low wear, ensuring a minimum service life of 20 years.

Reciprocating compressors are well suited to a wide range of offshore and onshore applications. They offer economic benefit in terms of both capital cost and low power consumption at full and part load operating conditions. The reciprocating design provides inherently flexible capacity control and the ability to handle ‘off design’ gas conditions, providing an assurance of economy and reliability over a wide operating envelope.

GAS COMPRESSOR EXPERIENCE

The company has supplied two, four-throw, three-stage compressors to Nerefco Oil Refinery in Holland. The project was managed by Jacobs Nederland B.V. and the compressors are being used to compress 96.5% hydrogen which is used in the process of hydrofining diesel from 3.2bara to 35bara.

China has proved to be a good market for Peter Brotherhood over the years. The latest in a series of nine orders is for one reciprocating gas compressors for the Yanshan Oil Refinery in Beijing.

Each package is a typical four throw reciprocating compressor, where three cylinders of each machine handle hydrogen make-up gas for diesel fuel hydrofining.

Last year we delivered a reciprocating gas compressor to the Repsol La Coruna refinery in Spain. The compressor is a two-throw reciprocating unit with one stage for make-up gas that compresses 99.9% hydrogen from 20.4bara to 49.2bara and one stage for recycled gas that compresses 93% hydrogen from 48.6bara to 63bara.

We are currently working on eight compressors for Total Lindsey Oil refinery and twelve compressors for a refinery in the Middle East.

ENGINEERING FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Peter Brotherhood’s large, modern, purpose-built plant with first class design and manufacturing facilities combined with a highly skilled workforce allows the company to offer high quality services. These same high quality services can be found in the engineering services department. Peter Brotherhood’s experience extends from re-design, repair and refurbishment through to installation, commissioning and planned maintenance of a wide range of rotating equipment.

A dedicated Service Centre was established last year to service, repair and refurbish reciprocating and rotating machinery manufactured by Peter Brotherhood as well as other companies.
