Specialist engineering company Peter Brotherhood has secured another order to supply three innovative reciprocating gas compressor packages to a Chinese refinery.
The Peterborough, UK, based supplier of engineered equipment for the refining, petrochemical and process industries has won a series of Chinese orders for the packages, which can significantly cut processing costs.
The latest contract is from China Petroleum Material & Equipment (Group) Corporation for the Urumqi oil refinery at Urumqi in the territory of Xinjiang, China.
Each package is a typical four throw-reciprocating compressor with three cylinders of each machine handling hydrogen make-up gas for diesel fuel hydrofining. They will be supplied with lubrication and cooling water consoles, pulsation vessels and a 2,600kW main drive motor.
The compressors will be fed low-pressure hydrogen at 20bar which will be compressed to 118bar and then fed into a hydrotreater where the sulphur will be removed from the gasoline. The equipment is due for delivery in June 2006.
Compressor sales general manager Tony Murphy said: "We won the contract because of our extensive experience of designing and manufacturing gas compressors for refineries, especially in China. The Chinese rank reliability, high quality products and value for money as the most important factors when placing an order. We were able to provide them with a suitable solution to cover their criteria in the required timescale."
This type of machine has also been supplied to seven other refineries in China.
