Hempel - Corrosion Protection to Protect Hydrocarbon AssetsFor almost a century Hempel has provided corrosion protection for marine and hydrocarbon activities. Today some of the worlds longest bridges, tallest cranes and largest ships rely on Hempel quality to keep them in operation and in good shape. We provide corrosion protection for a vast number of structures in the hydrocarbon industry in some of the harshest environments. The Hempel Group of companies comprises 21 factories, 47 sales offices and more than 130 stock points in 80 countries worldwide. PRIMERS FOR THE HYDROCARBON INDUSTRYHempel has a full range of primers for the hydrocarbon industry. On the zinc epoxy front there is a whole assortment, but most interesting is the innovative product hempadur zinc pro 17380, that has a rust creep of less than 3mm as measured according to ISO standards. The product contains a small particle-size electrical conductive pigment which polarises the surface and utilises the zinc particles most efficiently. Further on the zinc silicate front, Hempel has a range of galvosil coatings with different levels of zinc to suit performance and economy. Where zinc primers are not required Hempel has a complete assortment of epoxy coatings that can be tailored to any needs in the industry. Furthermore a glass flake epoxy coating named hempadur multi-strength GF 35870 adds a product with extreme abrasion resistance. INNOVATIVE 3RD GENERATION POLYSILOXANE TOPCOATSHempel has recently launched our hempaxane family which is the coating industry's most advanced topcoat. The family comprises two products: hempaxane classic 55000 and hempaxane light 55030. The classic version is meant for heavy duty usage primarily directed towards the offshore industry and applied typically in 100 microns. The light version is used more universally as a normal topcoat in 50 to 75 microns. The benefits of these products are that they provide much improved gloss and colour retention, they add to the corrosion protection, they have about twice the flexibility of other polysiloxanes, they provide excellent adhesion have low water vapour permeability and low internal stresses. The hempaxane family has been used on oil piers, bridges, silos, tanks and on prestigious infrastructure projects like the new airport in Beijing. CHEMICAL RESISTANT TANK COATINGSHempel has a full range of chemical resistant tank coatings ranging from epoxy based over epoxy novolac base to polyesters and vinyl esters. Hempadur 15400 and hempadur 15500 are classical epoxy and phenolic epoxy product with wide chemical resistance. A special phenolic epoxy coating, hempadur 85671, has been used extensively in the hydrocarbon industry due to its versatile chemical resistance, excellent adhesion and higher temperature resistance. The two glass flake products, Hempel’s polyester GF 35920 and Hempel’s vinylester GF 35910, are state-of-the-art glass flake products as normally used in the hydrocarbon industry. COATING ADVISER SERVICEThe well-known Hempel service package covers presale discussions about technical solutions, onsite attendance by highly trained coating advisers (FROSIO or NACE certificated), extensive reporting of conditions during surface preparation and application, maintenance specifications for future maintenance and follow up inspections to monitor performance of our systems.
