Sigma Coatings has obtained the ISO Management System Certification

"Quality of products and services, respect of the environment, accident prevention on our sites, health and safety": some of the key words used by Pierre Marie De Leener, CEO of SigmaKalon, to sum up the Group’s Safety Health Environment and Quality policy.
The business unit Sigma Marine & Protective Coatings is already ISO-certified since August 1993, but they are proud to announce that since January 12, 2004 they also obtained the valuable NEN-EN-ISO 9001:2000 Management System Certification.
SigmaKalon aims to be the natural, first choice supplier through its activities of paint production and its distribution channels. For Sigma Marine and Protective Coatings this means having a strong worldwide presence through a well-recognised brand: SIGMA. The objective of working according to the ISO Management System is to ensure, in a sustainable manner, the quality of the services that our customers expect of us. The paint market is a highly competitive one, where the customers are always looking for modern coatings technologies that would be a cost-effective way of providing efficient protection in most environments. It is in this context of continuous reappraisal that we work to improve the quality of our services.
The 2-weeks audit was done in December 2003 by Det Norske Veritas. The Auditor J.P.M. Ten Holter presented the certificates to the Management of Sigma MPC on January the 13th 2004 during a special event attended by all the employees. During his speech, Ten Holter said: “I have carried out about 700 to 800 audits for DNV now, and I have to admit this Management System for SigmaKalon Marine and Protective Coatings is in my top 5 of the best quality systems I have ever seen in my career!”
The following parts of the Business Unit Marine & Protective Coatings are certified now:
- Head office at Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Rueil & Genlis France for:
o Provision of product development & support services for paint manufacturing plants and sales offices;
o Provision of export services for international clients;
o Project management and execution for key-accounts
- Factory at Deurne, Belgium for:
o Manufacturing and logistics of paint and coatings for surface protection, finishing and decoration
- Sigma Protective Coatings Netherlands at Uithoorn, The Netherlands for:
o Sale of paint and coatings for surface preparation, finishing and decoration
o Provision of coating related technical advice and support
- Sigma Marine Coatings Netherlands at Amsterdam, The Netherlands for:
o Sale of paint and coatings for surface preparation, finishing and decoration
o Provision of coating related technical advice and support
