Eight in One Swoop – for a Third Less:Ex i-Protected Fieldbus Couplers for Eight FISCO Devices

R. STAHL provides a space- and cost-saving eight spur fieldbus barrier which enables users to connect intrinsically safe FISCO devices in Foundation Fieldbus H1 and Profibus PA environments. In typical fieldbus segments with up to 16 devices, the barriers require half the space of conventional installations featuring four 4 spur couplers. Moreover, expenses are minimized by approximately 30%.
The type 9411 models retain all advantages of the ISbus coupler product range. They allow users to chose between different grounding and shielding concepts, such as Single Point, Multiple Point and capacitive grounding. The units feature an integrated, switchable terminator. They come with a power management which is unique on the market, reducing starting currents in the trunk and, in case of short-circuits in several spurs, minimizing fault currents in the bus. Signal and error status are signalized via clearly laid-out, multi-colored LEDs. The Ex i-protected couplers are suitable for use in zone 1, zone 2 and US division 2. They are available with plastic or stainless steel housings which can be tailored to customer requirements.
