The gasketed PHE is a cost-effective alternative to conventional shell and tube heat exchangers and the all-welded PHE is designed for critical (high pressure / temperature) service applications. Tranter’s spiral heat exchangers are ideally suited for handling “difficult” fluids, such as sludges and slurries.

PLATE HEAT EXCHANGERS IN HYDROCARBON PROCESS INDUSTRY

Historically the shell and tube heat exchanger has been widely used in hydrocarbon processing. However experience shows that it’s possible to increase efficiency and profitability by replacing them with plate heat exchangers. Tranter Ultraflex is a patented plate design that has successfully replaced the shell and tube exchanger in several petrochemical plants.

Tranter's heat transfer plates are available in corrosion resistant materials such as 316L, 254SMO and titanium. The plates are being manufactured in Europe (Sweden and Germany), Asia (India and China) and Americas (USA). All factories have ISO 9001 certified quality systems and ASME U-Stamp (U1) certificates.

GASKETED AND WELDED HEAT EXCHANGERS

Gasketed plate heat exchangers are typically used at design pressures / temperatures of up to 25barg / 180°C for fluids such as cooling water and lube oil. A movable cover allows full access to the heat exchanger internal for easy maintenance. The gaskets are available in elastomers such as NBR, EPDM and Viton. Typical applications are condensate cooling, quench water cooling and jacket water cooling.

The all welded plate heat exchanger is a relatively new product in the hydrocarbon process industry designed for high pressure / temperature systems. Tranter's all welded units Supermax and Ultramax are compact designs suitable to replace the shell and tube exchangers in certain petrochemical plants. Typical applications are propylene cooling and nitrogen steam heating.

Tranter’s spiral heat exchangers are utilized for a wide variety of applications for process industries. The flexibility of the custom-made tailored design, allows the HEs to be used as heaters, coolers, interchangers, condensers and evaporators.

Conversion of crude oils into different hydrocarbon compounds is a complex and energy consuming process. Tranter's heat exchangers play an important role in many heat recovery processes thus contributing to significant energy savings and reduced operating cost. Tranter works closely with many EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) contractors and licensors to optimise processes using our gasketed and all-welded heat exchangers. This has led to successful installations in many petrochemical plants around the world.
