Able Instruments & Controls Ltd has been contracted to supply their radar level transmitters to Petrofac, following its award of a contract by Hayan Petroleum Company to construct the Jihar phase-3 development project in Syria.
The plant will be built on the Jihar field in the Hayan Block, located near the town of Palmyra, consisting of the gas, condensate and oil fields for Jihar, Al Mahr and Jazal. Petrofac’s comprehensive scope of work will cover engineering, procurement and construction, re-commissioning and commissioning, as well as the start-up of the oil and gas processing facilities. The project is due to be commissioned by the last quarter of 2010.
Able Instruments has been chosen to supply its radar level transmitters for the second and third phase separator levels, LPG mounted bullets and drain vessels of this upstream oil and gas field development and processing project. Applications mostly include horizontal closed vessels, top mounted pumps and some external chamber mounted requirements.
The top mounted transmitters will allow the user to observe and note the local display readings without the need for an external platform, using only the ladder for tank roof access. As the transmitters are roof top or vessel top mounted, maintenance activities only require top access.
The level instruments will be used for control and trip applications. No alternative methods were considered since Able has successfully supplied previous projects and good feedback was generated from the installed sites.
The radar level transmitters are robust and can withstand many harsh conditions. This particular site has a temperature range from -10°C to +52°C, with mostly hot and humid conditions.
