IMA Ltd - Moisture Meters for Monitoring Humidity, Dewpoint and Moisture Percentage in Gases, Liquids and Solids

International Moisture Analysers (IMA) are specialists in moisture measurement in the process control and manufacturing industries, supplying moisture meters for monitoring humidity, dewpoint and moisture percentage in gases, liquids and solids. The dewpoint of natural gas is critical for product quality and safety. Moisture analysis of oils and other hydrocarbon liquids is a necessary measurement for custody transfer and it's important to get it right.

IMA offer a range of products and services including:

  • Calibration services
  • Dewpoint analysers
  • Relative humidity analysers
  • Moisture in liquids analysers
  • Moisture in solids analysers
  • On and off site training

The range of techniques and instruments to enable this has grown allowing IMA a unique position when selecting the right instrument for a particular customer or application. Analysers particularly popular in the hydrocarbons industry are:

SS2000 TUNABLE DIODE LASER (TDL) ANALYSER FOR MOISTURE MEASUREMENT IN NATURAL GAS

A new detection technique uses a very narrow wavelength of infrared light to determine low levels of water vapour. The heart of the SS2000 is a small laser diode (about 2mm²) that produces a very narrow and specific wavelength of light tuned to a harmonic of the water vapour molecule in the near infrared band. A high precision measurement can be made and with eight measurements are made every second, the system is quick to respond to variations. The system has already proved itself in sweet and sour gases providing an unequalled speed of response. An accuracy of 2% of reading exceeds all other online systems and, being a non-contact measurement it has a high degree of resistance to contamination.

DC 1510 AND DC 3510 WATER IN OIL ANALYSER

This range of BS and W analysers is designed for use in crude, lubricating oils, fuel oils and hydraulic oils as well as condensate and many other hydrocarbon liquids. The damage water in oil can cause in pumps, engines and water cooled compressors is well known and now IMA offer an oil analyser to alert operators and guard against damage. The output from the analyser can also transmit water content for quality control and custody transfer purposes when used to monitor feedstock or export lines of any hydrocarbon liquid. Other applications include the moisture content of more exotic liquids like phenol or glycol.

CAPACITANCE MEASUREMENTS AND ALGORITHMS

The microprocessor-based instrument uses temperature and density compensated capacitance measurement techniques and sophisticated algorithms that enable high resolution and stable results. The DC series of instruments are in-line continuous monitors, with a range of 0.05% to 60% moisture.

The DC 1510 is a bypass flow with a choice of either 1in NPT or flanged inlet and outlet ports, while the DC 3510 can be inserted directly into a pipeline. Both analysers offer 4m - 20mA and RS232/ RS485 data outputs.
