3P Services - Pipeline and Tank Inspection Systems

For more than ten years 3P Services has been a reliable inspection specialist for pipelines in the petroleum, petrochemical and chemical industries. Today, more than 40 professionals cover the wide spectrum of activities necessary to ensure high technological standards and quality in service.

We provide in-line inspection systems as well as a range of specialised pipeline inspection tools. All specialised inspection equipment is of genuine 3P Services' origin. The development of all components, including hard and software, is done under one roof at 3P Services in Germany.

In-line inspection systems for pipelines and tanks

We develop and manufacture innovative in-line inspection systems and apply these 'intelligent pigs' inside our clients' pipelines. Various inspection techniques measure different integrity parameters while pumped through the pipeline together with the product. Large distances of buried pipeline can be inspected regarding metal loss (e.g. internal and external corrosion), mechanical deformations or other features, without interrupting the transportation process.

Specialised pipeline inspection tools

3P Services has a well-proven range of tools covering the following categories:

  • Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) high-resolution tools from 3in up to 42in
  • Direct magnetic response (DMR) tools to inspect heavy-wall pipelines starting from 3in
  • High-resolution geometric (GEO) tools to identify discontinuities of the internal geometry starting from 3in
  • Bi-directional (bi-di) tools for pump-in / pump-out operation in single-access pipeline situations for 3in to 42in
  • Pipeline cleaning services ahead of inspection
  • Caliper and gauging pigs in all sizes

MFL scanners for pipeline inspection

Following on from its in-line MFL inspection tools, 3P Services offers a product range called the HandyScan system. These are manually operated MFL scanners to locate metal loss on the remote side of a steel wall. The equipment consists of a test head and a versatile display unit. It provides a perfect synergy with the classical UT-measurement.

Firstly, the HandyScan quickly pinpoints the location of, for example, corrosion on the remote steel surface while, secondly, standard UT-equipment is used to quantify the remaining wall thickness.

The HandyScan equipment was developed and manufactured by 3P Services. It is being sold to operators of pipelines, chemical plants, refineries and other industries as well as to NDT companies, who serve these industries.

After having been in use in all parts of the world, the equipment has reached a high degree of maturity. It is simple to operate and gives a cost-effective alternative to countless inspection situations. Training, both on-site or in Germany, is provided by 3P Services.

MFL tankfloor and pipe scanners

For the inspection of storage tanks, 3P Services successfully introduced the HandyScan tankfloor scanner.

3P Services has also successfully established the HandyScan external pipe scanner for the inspection of plant piping and flow lines in gas and oil fields.

Certified inspection technology

Independent national and international authorities and companies have awarded 3P Services with various certifications, for both intelligent pig systems and the HandyScan line of equipment.
