Anticorrosion Protective Systems - HDPE Pipeline Installation, Maintenance and Rehabilitation

Anticorrosion Protective Systems (APS) provides installation, inspection, maintenance and rehabilitation of network and transmission pipelines. For the hydrocarbons industry, this means in particular HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) pipelines for water injection, seawater intakes and outfalls, and sub-sea pipelines.

PIPELINE CONDITION ASSESSMENT

Visual condition assessment is probably the most powerful tool in planning the maintenance requirements of existing pipeline networks. APS has equipment capable of reaching up to 350m for the CCTV inspection of pipework in the 2in to 48in range.

PIPELINE REHABILITATION SYSTEMS

The rehabilitation of leaking and structurally defective pipelines represents a key element of APS utility and pipeline services. The internal pipeline rehabilitation systems operated by APS include the following techniques:

• Swagelining - patented British Gas system, which enables the ultra tight fit lining of host mains with new HDPE pipe in sections of up to 1km in length with diameters of 2in to 48in
• Sliplining - relining defective gravity and pressure pipes with a new, slightly smaller structural pipe liner
• Pipebursting - upsizing of existing buried pipelines and services using a hydraulic or pneumatic bursting head
• Folded liners - UPVC or HDPE liners are folded to reduce overall diameter prior to insertion and then reverted to their original size using pressure and heat to form a tight fit with the host pipe wall
• Man entry sewer, storm-water and tunnel linings - Panel Lok is the world's leading man entry UPVC spiral wound liner; it accommodates any shape of pipe and provides a permanent structural repair

HIGH PERFORMANCE PIPE LININGS

APS has over 20 years of experience in both factory and field linings of pipework, equipment and vessels with diameters from 1in to 3m and beyond in a range of products including epoxy, vinylester, bisphenol, polyurethane, polyethylene, hypalon, PVDF, natural and synthetic elastomer, baked phenolic, metallic and other forms of exotic high performance linings.

STRUCTURAL PIPELINE REPAIRS AND COATING

APS undertakes a full range of field excavation, surface preparation, composite structural repairs, coating and reinstatement services on any diameter of carbon steel oil, gas or water transmission pipeline.

FIELD JOINTS

Modern hot spray plural component high build coatings offer exceptional properties for use as field joint coatings. With excellent overlap adhesion to factory applied polyethylene or polypropylene coatings and rapid thermosetting characteristics, APS field joints can be ditched and backfilled in a matter of minutes after the coating is complete.

WATER INJECTION PIPELINES

One of the principal applications for tight fit HDPE liners is for the long-term corrosion protection of new high-pressure water injection pipelines for oil and gas companies.

APS has been involved in the design and installation of liners for numerous oil companies around the Middle East region since the early 1990s, from 4ins up to 18ins, and offers unequalled performance in terms of speed and efficiency.

STAND ALONE HDPE TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION PIPELINES, SEAWATER INTAKES, OUTFALLS AND SUB-SEA PIPELINES

APS possesses the in-house capability to design, supply, install and test both onshore and offshore HDPE pipeline networks.

Whether for oil, gas, water sewerage, slurry or chemical process, the extensive APS engineering, design and contractual capabilities are a major factor in the regions' utilisation of HDPE pipeline systems.

HDPE LINING OF TUBULAR GOODS

APS offers a factory-based service for the installation of HDPE liners to threaded tubulars and round tubing. With moulded end-seals forming a smooth bore through the 'J' area of the made-up string, the system offers total internal corrosion protection.

Liner designs cover a full range of water, chemical, oil and gas services, including hot and sour conditions.

APS also comprises an equipment rental division for HDPE pipeline services.
