TRANSIT-TIME ULTRASONIC FLOW METERING

Since its foundation in 1974, Ultraflux has been dedicating its activities in the application of ultrasonic techniques to:

• The measurement of flow of homogeneous liquids in full pipes, fixed flowmeters (single or dual-chord systems) and with clamp-on or insertion probes, portable flowmeters, as well as in open channels (sewers, irrigation networks, and rivers)
• The measurement of gas flow
• The identification of interfaces in multi-product pipelines
• The sphere and pig detection in pipelines

The principle of measurement is based on the transit-time measurement of ultrasonic waves, which allows for continuous and bidirectional metering. Ultraflux distributes its products all over the world, and exports more than 50% of its production.

These applications have made external probes essential for obvious reasons:

• Available installation
• Integrity of transportation under the authority of the customs
• No risk of leak

Safety in hazardous area is treated to suit your convenience with a converter on site (Minisonic EXD) or in safe area, therefore with long or short cables (up to 300m), and certified probes.

The physical complementary parameters as the speed of sound, or amplification can also be transmitted (RS link) to give information on the on-line product quality, on its density or composition, or finally to detect gas phases or water separators. Our ordinary applications are concentrated on:

• The technical measurements on pipelines networks, without commercial counting; dispatch or delivery, regulation, line balance, dividing up on nodes, in multi-products with pipelines from 6in to 32in
• The measurements on storage parks, with the follow up of the movements from or towards the tankers or the pipelines and especially the controlling of pumping stations (CIM, Le Havre)
• The measurements for sampler monitoring during the delivery of crude petroleum, the measurement can be made just after the unloading installations, with a pipeline of 56in
• The measurements of the delivery of warm or refrigerated LPG (butane or propane) with a gas detection function, transmitted to the commercial counting installations
• The conditioning or mixing on-line measurements during the elaboration of the LPG or the liquefaction before cracking of the bituminous crude petroleum (Total, Elf, Fina)
