Mubea - Disc Springs

Mubea is an international synonym for spring technology of the highest standard. Our disc springs and clamping components (manufactured in Daaden, Germany) comply with the highest worldwide quality standards. Mubea manufactures disc springs with an outside diameter up to 800 mm, as well as internally and externally slotted disc springs, and wave springs.

Because of their versatility, disc springs are used in a large variety of industrial applications, ranging from safety valve systems placed 3000 m below sea level to satellites in outer space. Additionally, Mubea also excels in the production of related products, such as complex precision stamped parts and high-quality clamping components.

Disc springs in compliance with DIN 2093, as well as our own internal standards, are in stock on a permanent bases. All products are manufactured in-house, beginning with the production of blank materials in our own cold-rolling mill. Furthermore, all tooling is designed, manufactured, and maintained in-house. In addition to 50 CrV 4 (SAE 6150), Mubea permanently stocks a variety of antimagnetic, corrosion- and heat-resistant materials for special applications. This also gives Mubea the flexibility in its production processes to be able to respond quickly to customer needs.

DISC SPRINGS - GENERAL

Disc springs are shallow conical rings that can be subjected to axial loads. Normally the ring thickness is constant. The load is evenly distributed over the upper inside and lower outside edge.

Disc springs are generally manufactured from spring steel and can be subjected to static loads, rarely alternating, and to dynamic loads. Disc springs satisfy the most stringent requirements against setting loss and for fatigue strength.

Disc springs are distinguished from other spring types by the following characteristics:

• High load capacity with a small spring deflection
• Considerably better space utilisation when compared with other types of springs
• High fatigue life and low creep tendency with the correct dimensioning
• Different assemblies can be designed to achieve the desired load characteristics
• Special materials and various surface coatings can be used
• Cost-effective as a result of standardised sizes

CONVENTIONAL DISC SPRINGS

Conventional disc springs have an outside diameter of 8-800mm, are phosphated and oiled as standard, and are shot-peened to improve fatigue life if they have a thickness of less than 0.5mm. Areas of application include:

• Boiler suspension systems in power stations
• Safety valves
• Overload protection in electric transformers
• Couplings: Aerial cable cars: Machine tool clamping components
• Safety brakes for lifts, elevators, and construction and railway vehicles
• Backlash compensation for ball bearings
• Vibration isolation, etc

Shot-peening as a standard process is especially advantageous in dynamic spring loading applications requiring a long lifetime. Moreover, extremely well equipped laboratories are available to meet customers' testing requirements.

SLOTTED DISC SPRINGS

Internally or externally slotted disc springs have a dimensional range of 20-300mm and are produced for the following areas:

• Automatic transmissions
• Overload couplings
• Couplings, etc

WAVE SPRINGS

Mubea produces wave springs with a dimensional range of outside diameter 20 mm to 300 mm. Wave springs are often used to improve gear shift quality in automatic transmissions. Wave springs are designed to meet individual customer requirements. Areas of application include:

• Backlash compensation, etc
