Term: Catalytic Steam Reforming


Definition:

Catalytic steam reforming is used to produce hydrogen by splitting water. Steam reacts with methane to produce hydrogen and carbon monoxide, when heated to very high temperatures and is in the presence of a metal based catalyst. Catalytic steam reforming is a different process to catalytic reforming, a process used to produce high octane fuel and hydrogen.
