Definition:
Insulation refers to any material that stops the transfer of heat. Insulation is commonly used in pipelines in harsh or extreme climates in order to keep the gas or liquid at a standard temperature. Pipe-in-pipe insulation also protects against high pressures, to resist the pipeline collapsing even in deep water.
