The global fall in demand for LNG will recover in two to three years, according to Algerian Energy Minister Chakib Khelil.
Khelil was quoted by Reuters as saying that in the long term the need for natural gas will go up based on its environmental importance and global demand.
Khelil, however, does not expect a rise in gas exports to the USA specifically, because Algeria has not been exposed to that market.
The country is seeking to serve Asian markets with its LNG supplies and is currently building two new LNG plants.
"Basically, our traditional market is Japan, Korea and, of course, China, which is a very interesting market," Khelil said.
Algeria is also in talks with India for LNG exports that will be supplied by plants in development.
