CB&I secures storage tank contract from Venture Global LNG


CB&I has secured a $200m contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction services related to two LNG storage tanks at Venture Global LNG’s Calcasieu Pass export facility located in south-west Louisiana, US.

The facility is expected to produce ten million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG supply and will be designed with a liquefaction system comprising 18 mid-scale modular trains driven by electric motors for optimum efficiency.

Under the contract, CB&I will provide, two single-containment LNG storage tanks, for which construction is scheduled to commence next year.

Designed to deliver around two million dekatherm per day (dthpd), Calcasieu Pass enables the company to export North American natural gas to global markets.

The facility is being developed by Venture Global’s subsidiary Venture Global Calcasieu Pass in Cameron Parish.

The Calcasieu Pass project's first production is expected to commence by late 2019, with full-scale operations scheduled for 2020.

Venture Global is currently developing LNG export terminals at both Calcasieu Pass and Plaquemines, with an estimated total nameplate capacity of 30mtpa.
