Cheniere Energy completes Train 2 of Sabine Pass project in US

Cheniere Energy Partners has substantially completed Train 2 of the Sabine Pass liquefaction project in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, US.

The company’s EPC partner Bechtel Oil, Gas and Chemicals is handing over the control of Train 2.

As part of an agreement with Gas Natural Fenosa LNG GOM (GNF), date of first commercial delivery (DFCD) for the train is expected to occur in August next year, following which the 20-year term of the agreement will begin.

Prior to DFCD, GNF has certain rights to early cargoes produced from Train 2 as per the agreement.

Through its subsidiary Sabine Pass Liquefaction (SPL), Cheniere Partners is developing and constructing natural gas liquefaction facilities at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal next to the existing regasification facilities.

Up to six liquefaction trains are planned to be constructed over time and are in various stages of development and construction.

The 1,000 acre Sabine Pass site has the capacity to accommodate up to six liquefaction trains capable of processing more than 3.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas.

Each train is expected to have a nominal production capacity of about 4.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

Construction on Trains 1 and 2 began in August 2012. Train 1 exported its first cargo in February, and commenced operations in May this year.
