Emerson to supply Roxar RMS reservoir modelling software to Kuwait Oil Company


US-based technology and engineering firm Emerson Automation Solutions has announced the supply of its Roxar RMS reservoir modelling software to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).

The software will be utilised to develop accurate and detailed reservoir models of new licences.

The latest contract bolsters KOC’s wide adoption of earlier purchased Roxar RMS software, which has provided crucial input to KOC in well placing and determining the wellbore trajectory in potentially productive parts of the reservoir, as well as reducing the geosteering risk for sidetracked wells.

KOC senior geologist Abdullah Al-Awadi said: “I am highly satisfied with the Roxar RMS software, which has proved to be extremely useful in development geology and is based on my personal experience of more than ten years working with the software.

“The structural model, the advanced geostatistical evaluation in terms of gridding and others analyses generated highly accurate results especially on facies and property models. We are now starting to integrate the seismic date with the static model and are finding a lot of flexibility in the workflows and the ability to load any kind of data.”

Roxar RMS software enables operators to accelerate field development planning cycle by offering multiple disciplines integrated on a common reservoir model.

The software helps implementation of the Big Loop solution.

Big Loop solution is an automated workflow that collaborates with static and dynamic domains to ensure accuracy, comprehensive uncertainty assessment and quantification of risk in the geological model.

Roxar RMS reservoir modelling software offers several modules, including well correlation, mapping, structural modelling, petrophysical modelling, local model updates, facies modelling, fracture modelling and uncertainty management.
