KMG EP announces results of exploratory appraisal well at Rozhkovskoye field, Kazakhstan

JSC KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (KMG EP) has announced the results of an exploratory appraisal well at the Rozhkovskoye field, located within the Fedorovsky block in Kazakhstan.

It conducted testing on the lower formation of Tournaisian reservoir in the exploration well U-25, which was drilled this year.

The test found gas and condensate at the interval of 4,418m - 4,430m that carried an average flow rate of 111,000 cubic metres per day (m³/d) and 245m³/d respectively on 11mm choke.

Taking into account that the tested formation is structurally below the currently known gas water contact, conditionally accepted following the results of the earlier drilled exploration wells, hydrocarbon resources are expected to increase due to further exploration and an update of the area of the remaining category ?1 resources.

"The contract for gas and condensate production at the Rozhkovskoye field was signed in April 2015 and is valid for 25 years."

Testing of upper, main gas-bearing formation of Tournaisian reservoir will continue after the lower formation testing is complete.

The Fedorovsky block is located in the west Kazakhstan region near the city of Uralsk.

In 2011, KMG EP bought a 50% stake in Ural Group Limited (UGL). UGL owned 100% stake in Ural Oil and Gas (UOG) and had the exploration and production license for the Fedorovsky block.

The contract for gas and condensate production at the Rozhkovskoye field was signed in April 2015 and is valid for 25 years.

KMG EP is among the top three Kazakh oil producers and its overall production in 2015 was 12.4 million tonnes.
