Oil and gas waste management company Milestone Environmental Services has commenced construction of its new oilfield waste disposal facility located south of Midland in the US.
The facility is expected to start operations in the fourth quarter of this year and represents the company’s second in the Permian Basin and eighth in Texas.
It has the ability to take drilling, completion and production waste streams such as oil-based and water-based muds, drilling fluids, flowback, tank bottoms, dirty water, as well as produced water.
Milestone Environmental Services president and CEO Gabriel Rio said: “We are proud to enable E&P operators to produce energy in a more environmentally sustainable manner.
“With the addition of our South Midland facility, Milestone will be well positioned to serve E&P operators in the Midland Basin.”
Milestone utilises slurry injection process to inject a mixture of the waste streams below the earth’s surface where they are disposed beneath various confining layers of stone.
Through the facility, the company intends to provide full-service washouts for trucks and frac tanks.
Milestone Environmental Services engineering director Jason Larchar said: “The design of this facility will provide improved safety, efficiency and capacity, plus reduce truck unloading and washout times for E&P customers.”
Headquartered in the US and operating for more than 20 years as an oilfield environmental services provider, Milestone Environmental Services offers injectable oilfield waste disposal systems.
