PetroVietnam to use Honeywell’s Connected Performance Services to boost refinery efficiency
Honeywell has announced that a subsidiary of PetroVietnam will use its new IIoT-based Connected Performance Services (CPS) to enhance its manufacturing operations.
The company, Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical (BSR), is based in Quang Ngai City, Vietnam, and will use this CPS technology.
This technology integrates Honeywell UOP's deep process knowledge and helps to upgrade the refinery and plant performance at the naphtha complex.
CPS is a segment of Honeywell's Connected Plant initiative that utilises IIoT technology and services. From supply chain efficiency to asset optimisation, this technology is effective to improve all aspects of industrial operation.
Honeywell UOP CPS business vice president: “Honeywell's CPS technology uses the plant's own process data with cloud-based optimisation and reliability solutions to ensure the operation runs at peak efficiency.
“Honeywell will be in a position to use plant-specific information to provide BSR with actionable recommendations that can significantly improve its profitability.”
The company claimed that CPS provides better visibility to industrial operations. Hence, any issue that affects plant efficiency and productivity can be quickly identified and resolved through CPS recommendation. Due to this, facilities can avoid unplanned shutdowns for maintenance, thereby saving money and time.
The CPS service analyses plant data continuously and applies various process models and data analytics. It can find out emerging performance problems and notify plant personnel.
Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical president and CEO Tran Ngoc Nguyen said: “The CPS system is an important tool to help our refinery produce more gasoline and consume less energy.
“We believe it will improve our staff's capabilities so they can keep our operation running at peak performance.”
The service is also effective to manage energy consumption to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical produces, refines and trades crude oil and finished petroleum products.
Founded in 2008, it also provides maintenance and technical consultation, training and manpower in the oil refining and petrochemical field.
