Report: Americas registers highest M&A activity in the midstream industry in Q2 2017

The Americas region witnessed the highest number of mergers and acquisitions (M&As) in the midstream industry in the second quarter of 2017, according to a report by GlobalData.

Titled 'Quarterly Midstream Deals Review – Q2 2017’, the report provides details of the global M&A activity during the period.

A total of 68 M&A deals with a combined value of $28.9bn were registered during the quarter, 45 of which were domestic and 23 were cross-border transactions.

The Americas registered the highest number of deals at 34 with a combined value of $26.8bn. The number of cross-border deals in the region decreased from eight in the first quarter to six in the second quarter. Domestic acquisitions decreased from 31 to 28 during the quarter.

A total of 26 acquisitions were recorded in the EMEA region, 11 of which were cross-border and 15 were domestic.

The APAC region witnessed eight M&As during the quarter, six of which were cross-border and two were domestic acquisitions.
