Rosneft Brasil prepares to commence operations in Solimoes Basin by next year

Rosneft's 100%-owned subsidary Rosneft Brasil and Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás have signed an agreement to charter an onshore drilling rig and associated rig services.

Schlumberger, in association with Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás, will offer integrated project management (IPM) services for the drilling operations in the Solimoes Basin as part of Rosneft Brasil's exploration programme in the Amazon region.

Schlumberger is a provider of technology for drilling, production, and processing within the oil and gas industry.

"The drilling at the site is scheduled to commence on 9 January next year, which marks the start of the active phase of Rosneft Brasil’s exploration operations within the Solimoes project."

The drilling at the site is scheduled to commence on 9 January next year, which marks the start of the active phase of Rosneft Brasil’s exploration operations within the Solimoes project.

Rosneft Brasil intends to drill at least two wells within the upcoming drilling campaign with the scope of obtaining valuable geological information and confirming the exploration potential and hydrocarbon resources.

The Solimões project establishes Rosneft as an operator in Brazil, a country that offers upstream growth opportunities both onshore and offshore.

Rosneft also continues to evaluate gas monetisation options for the Solimoes project.
