Velocity Midstream to build crude oil gathering system in Central Oklahoma

Velocity Central Oklahoma Pipeline, a subsidiary of Velocity Midstream Partners, will build a crude oil gathering and transportation system for Continental Resources.

The system will support Continental Resources’ development in the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP) play.

Continental Resources is the leading leaseholder in the SCOOP with about 471,000 acres.

Velocity Midstream’s system will collect crude oil from points selected by Continental Resources in Grady, Stephens, Garvin, and McClain counties.

It will provide transportation and interconnections to pipelines with direct access to Cushing.

The crude oil pipeline and terminals, which are currently under construction, are expected to start services in the second quarter of 2015.

Velocity Midstream said it is the first phase of its infrastructure development plans to serve important producers involved in the Woodford and Springer shales.
