Reading-based ABLE Instruments & Controls will be unveiling a verification loop for flare gas meters using an internationally traceable transfer standard, as a feature of their soon to be completed state-of-the-art training facility.
ABLE’s spool-mounted flow reference standard will be calibrated at the Dutch Metrology Institute’s Van Swinden Flow Laboratory (VSL) in Delft against their primary standard turbine meter.
VSL is internationally renowned and has established a first-rate reputation as an independent testing and certification institute for the oil and gas and utilities industries.
ABLE recommends all flare gas meters should be calibrated prior to entering service, under conditions resembling, as close as possible, those of actual operation. This will provide the end user with a calibration curve for the control system, which characterises the meter and minimises uncertainty. Traceable calibration verifies that the meter has been manufactured to the specified tolerances.
In keeping with its commitment to excellence in the field of measurement, it is intended that ABLE’s verification loop make an important contribution towards the accuracy, reliability and quality of the customer’s process.
