High-voltage cable nitrogen purging is a new service being offered by Ward Operations to enable the drying of wet conductors and cables in-situ. This service enables our highly trained and licensed Cable Jointers to re-enter High Voltage Terminations and Joints to establish entry points to enable a 99% pure dry nitrogen with a dew point of -80 degrees C to be pumped through the conductors and cable fillers over a period of time to enable the removal of all moisture from the cable conductor and fillers leading to a prolonged cable life and increased insulation resistance from wet conductors.
