Cogent to construct new pipeline to deliver gas from Big Lake Complex

Cogent Midstream is set to construct a new pipeline that will deliver residue gas from its Big Lake Natural Gas Processing Complex in Reagan County in the Midland Basin of West Texas, US.

The 25-mile pipeline will deliver the gas to Kinder Morgan’s Gulf Coast Express Pipeline (GCX Pipeline).

Cogent expects that the pipeline will also cross the proposed Permian Highway Pipeline and Whistler Pipeline projects.

Expected to become operational in the fourth quarter of this year, the pipeline will have a total capacity of 400 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d).

Cogent also plans to commission its Big Lake II natural gas cryogenic processing plant during the same period.

Cogent Midstream CEO Dennis McCanless said: “Cogent’s investments in the Big Lake II Plant and the residue gas pipeline to GCX continue to demonstrate the high level of commitment we’ve made to serving our customers.

“Both projects are designed to ensure that Cogent’s producers have the reliable service and optionality they need to efficiently move their volumes to growing markets and achieve the best possible netbacks.”

Currently under construction, the Big Lake II Plant has the nameplate capacity to process 200MMcf/d and will bring the company’s total processing capacity to 510MMcf/d.

McCanless added: “Our investment in the Big Lake II Plant is another example of the commitment Cogent has to this area and the growth opportunities presented by our customers’ robust drilling programmes.”

Going forward, the company will continue to provide top-tier midstream services to producers in the lower Midland Basin.
