GPS opens storage and blending facility in Port of Amsterdam

GPS Amsterdam has opened its expanded storage and blending facility for gasoline, gasoline components and biofuels in the Port of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The expansion will increase the Class 1 certified terminal’s storage capacity from 148,500m³ to 282,500m³ at GPS Amsterdam’s site.

The company has expanded the terminal capacity across 17 tanks to create an advanced facility under an international programme of major asset developments and acquisitions.

The company noted that the latest expansion follows major ‘buy and build’ investments of its UAE and Malaysian Greenfield projects.

GPS CEO Eric Arnold said: “The investment in increased capacity and flexibility which are now built into the Amsterdam terminal reinforces GPS’ commitment to providing customers with world-class assets while pursuing our global expansion plans.

“We’re excited by the possibilities of our expanded site and are committed to additional investments here in Amsterdam that will ensure both GPS and our customers are well-positioned to capture future opportunities.”

The new tanks will create a larger terminal facility to offer increased capability and flexibility.

This expansion marks the latest achievement of GPS’ strategic collaboration with VARO Energy and the Port of Amsterdam.

GPS’ terminal is capable of handling other commodities such as naphtha, gas oil, heating oil and diesel, as well as gasoline, gasoline components and biofuels.

This would enable the company to meet its growing customers’ needs.

As part of the terminal expansion, GPS will also develop a rail handling facility so as to equip its site with a cost-effective and sustainable infrastructure for a range of its energy and chemical commodities.

The company noted that the development will be a complementary addition to the Port of Amsterdam’s strategic objectives, which strive towards sustainability.
