Deals this week: Chesapeake Energy, Murphy Oil, Canadian Natural Resources

Chesapeake Energy Corporation has agreed to dispose its oil and gas assets located in northern Texas, US, to Saddle Barnett Resources, LLC.

The transaction terminates the existing gathering agreement and will involve the payment of $334m in cash made by Chesapeake to Williams. Additionally, Saddle Barnett will pay $420m to Williams to invalidate the gathering agreement with Chesapeake.

Chesapeake will leave Barnett Shale upon the completion of the deal in the third quarter of 2016.

Murphy Oil Corporation intends to issue senior notes that will mature in 2024, to raise $500m.

Regions Securities LLC, Capital One Securities Inc and Goldman, Sachs & Co are the underwriters to the company for the issue, while Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP is the legal advisor to the company.

The amount raised from the issue is intended to be used by Murphy Oil for general corporate purposes.

Canadian Natural Resources Limited has announced the pricing of a public issue of 3.31% medium-term notes to raise $759.45m. Each note is priced at 99.985% of principal amount and will mature on 11 February 2022.

Canadian Natural Resources has appointed CIBC World Markets Inc, Scotia Capital Inc, TD Securities Inc, Merrill Lynch Canada Inc, AltaCorp Capital Inc, and Desjardins Securities Inc as the underwriters for the issue.

The amount raised from the offering is intended to be used by the company for general corporate functions and for repayment of liabilities.

Goodnight Midstream has received assurance from Tailwater Capital LLC for an equity investment of $80m.

Goodnight Midstream operates more than 150mi (241.4km) of saltwater gathering pipelines with connections to a network of 16 saltwater disposal facilities in North Dakota, US.

The investment allows Goodnight Midstream to expand its operations in North Dakota, Texas, and other regions.

Rockhound Royalties LLC plans to dispose its mineral and royalty interests in 24 Bakken and Three Forks horizontal wells in northern McKenzie County, North Dakota, US.

Operated by Oasis Petroleum North America LLC, the wells have an average gross production of 8,370 barrels of oil per day of oil and 8,472 million cubic feet per day of gas.

The assets have been listed in EnergyNet.com for sale through an auction, which will close on 18 August 2016.
