GE to unveil new aeroderivative gas turbine to oil and gas industry

GE Oil & Gas is set to unveil its new aeroderivative gas turbine for the oil and gas industry at the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia in Houston.

The newly upgraded LM6000-PF+ turbine has fuel flexibility in power generation as well as mechanical-drive applications and is a product of GE’s cross-sector technology portfolio.

The LM6000PF+ is claimed to be suitable for FLNG and FPSO due to its compact size and weight and expedites the installation and commissioning process.

GE’s LM6000-PF+ serves as a 54MW standard unit, has an optional increase of up to 6MW and has flange-to-flange thermal efficiency of 42.7% – or 56% in combined cycle.

According to the company, the PF+ is a 4% power growth version of the LM6000-PH and makes use of the DLE 1.5 fuel system which was introduced on the LM6000PF in 2004.

The PF+ is suitable for LNG plants and other energy-intensive processes because of its high starting torque, and near-constant efficiency over a range of ambient temperatures range from 50-100°F/10-37°C.
