KP Engineering to design and build MMEX Resources’ crude oil refinery in Texas

KP Engineering (KPE) will engineer, design and construct MMEX Resources’ crude oil refinery in Pecos County, Texas.

Last month, MMEX Resources announced its plan to develop a crude oil refinery in the Permian Basin near Fort Stockton in Texas, subject to receipt of government approval and completion of necessary debt and equity financing.

MMEX Resources president and CEO Jack W Hanks said: "Plans for the Pecos County refinery are progressing smoothly and rapidly, and the selection of KPE as the project’s EPC contractor is an essential first step to beginning the project.

"With their strong industry experience, knowledge of the Texas market, scalability and agility, KPE is an ideal partner for MMEX on this project.”

After completion, the refinery facility is expected to export crude oil, fuels and petroleum products to Mexico and South America.

KP Engineering chairman and CEO Brandon T. Steele said: "We are humbled that MMEX Resources has chosen KPE to assist them in constructing a state-of-the-art crude processing and transport facility for the Permian Basin.

KPE also announced its plan to provide a sub-contract to Interstate Treating / RAMA Fabrication of Odessa, Texas, to engineer develop vessels and process modules for the refinery.

Construction of this refinery is expected to create 400 jobs during peak stage and employ 100 people once it becomes fully operational.
