Kuwait Oil selects Fluor for project consulting services

Kuwait Petroleum’s (KPC) subsidiary Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) has selected Texas-based Fluor to provide comprehensive consulting services in support of its capital expenditure programme for Kuwait.

The services will specialise in front-end design and project and construction management.

Said to be worth $410m, the five-year contract follows ten years of Fluor support to KOC and will be booked in Fluor’s fourth quarter.

According to Fluor, the services pertaining to new facilities construction and upgrading of existing facilities are broad based. As part of the contract, the company will provide services including project management, coordination, planning, front-end design, engineering, contracting, procurement, project controls, and construction management, and will also train KOC project staff.

Services will be performed at KOC’s headquarters located in Ahmadi, Kuwait, and front-end design packages will be executed in the Farnborough, UK, office of Fluor.

Fluor Energy & Chemicals Group president Peter Oosterveer said that for more than 50 years the company has supported clients and executed Middle East projects.

"During that time we have developed a strong relationship with KOC by partnering with them and offering support with project development and management for its capital spending programme," Oosterveer added.

Fluor’s latest agreement is expected to bolster the partnership between both companies.

KPC, the government-owned entity responsible for Kuwait’s hydrocarbon interests worldwide, helps to supply vital oil and gas resources through the exploration, production, refining, transporting and marketing of crude oil and products in Kuwait and internationally.

Fluor has a global network of offices on six continents and provides comprehensive capabilities and expertise in the fields of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, fabrication, operations, maintenance and project management.
