Schlumberger introduces artificial lift management service to improve well production

Schlumberger has introduced production lifecycle management service Lift IQ that offers monitoring, diagnostics and optimisation of artificial lift systems in real time.

The Lift IQ securely procures, transmits, analyses and interprets data from customer wells to improve production efficiency, extend equipment longevity and reduce operating costs.

The new artificial lift management service comes with four tiers to fulfil different requirements of customers with regard to visualisation, real-time surveillance and diagnostics, well optimisation and field optimisation.

Schlumberger artificial lift solutions president David Paterson said: “As operators focus on ways to reduce their costs, one consideration is whether they are getting the full value of their artificial lift equipment.

“With the Lift IQ service, we can use real-time data to improve equipment run life and uptime, as well as to adjust drawdown for maximum field recovery for the productive life of the well.”

Experienced service engineers monitor equipment alarms and events from Artificial Lift Surveillance Centers (ALSC) located worldwide.

The engineers identify failures and malfunctions and swiftly report remedial actions.

They collect data through satellite or cellular connections with three convenient storage options of on-premise, in-country or global.

Production optimisation is essential for high-value offshore wells, as well as to achieve financial and operational targets in large unconventional fields.

Schlumberger claimed that the Lift IQ service can provide all critical well site data in one cohesive platform for optimum run life.

The company pointed out that in the Permian Basin, a high gas-to-oil ratio caused a customer’s electrical submersible pumps (ESP) to shut down frequently. The Lift IQ service enabled this customer to reduce ESP downtime by an average of 43% due to active monitoring.

As it enabled the customer to control the pumps remotely, the number of site visits and the related HSE risks also reduced significantly.

Schlumberger is a technology provider for reservoir characterisation, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry.

It has a presence in more than 85 countries, with a workforce of 100,000 people. Last year, the company reported $27.81bn in revenue.
