Wood Group signs support services agreement with Sakhalin

UK-based Wood Group has been awarded a technical support services (TSS) contract by Sakhalin Energy Investment Company, which operates the Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project.

The new contract seeks to add brownfield drilling upgrade services to the operations Wood Group already provides, extending its relationship with Sakhalin Energy.

The company has been offering engineering and construction support to Sakhalin Energy, including studies and modifications, to offshore and onshore assets on Sakhalin Island in the Russian Federation for more than ten years.

Under the new contract, the assets covered comprise onshore processing facilities including booster stations 1 and 2, liquefied natural gas plant, oil export terminal and tanker loading unit.

Offshore assets are Piltun / Astokhskoye-A and B platforms and Lunskoye-A platform.

The contract will run for five years and be implemented immediately. In addition, the agreement entails two one-year extension options.

Engineering teams based in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Sakhalin Island will execute the contract, with support from Wood Group’s offices in Australia, Norway, China and the UK.

The TSS contract will see a new partnership between Wood Group and a Russian Design Institute (RDI), Gasproektengineering (GPE).

GPE is expected to support service delivery through the contract period, working with Wood Group across the range and scope of the services and asset base.
