Santos awards pipeline isolation services contract to STATS Group

UK pipeline engineering specialist STATS Group has secured a pipeline isolation services contract from Australian oil and gas major Santos.

The contract will cover all the assets of the oil and gas major in Queensland and South Australia, including its pipelines and facilities in the Cooper Basin and Port Bonython.

It also covers the GLNG upstream and downstream operations at Gladstone.

STATS Group Asia Pacific regional manager Gareth Campbell said: “This is a landmark contract award for our growing Australian business and we are delighted to have been given the opportunity by Santos to showcase our technologies.

“This lays the foundation for further expansion of STATS Group to serve the Australian energy industry and we have attracted a good deal of interest in our advanced technologies from potential clients across the extensive gas transmission sector.

“With revenues in Australia growing by up to 30% year-on-year, we are in a strong position to build on our reputation of on-time delivery and client responsiveness.”

STATS Group is engaged in the supply of pressurised pipeline isolation, hot tapping, as well as plugging services to the global oil and gas (O&G) and petrochemical industries.

The company’s isolation tools provide leak-tight double block and bleed isolation.

This enables safe and efficient maintenance, as well as repair of pipeline infrastructure. These tools also focus on reducing system downtime and increasing worksite safety.

In December 2013, STATS Group completed the isolation of a 40in pig trap valve at Zeeburgge Onshore Gas Terminal in Belgium on behalf of Interconnector UK.
