Total’s Bolivian Gas Field Starts Production

Total E&P Bolivie has started production from the Itau gas and condensate field located on block XX (Tarija Oeste), 400km south of Santa Cruz, Bolivia.

The company’s the first phase of development came onstream on 2 February 2011 and is expected to produce 1.5 million cubic metres of gas per day.

The gas from the Itau field, which was discovered in 1999, will be processed at the San Alberto field’s facilities, primarily for export.

Total conducted delineation operations between 2001 and 2003 before supervising the first development phase of the field.

On 1 February 2011, Total sold its 4% participating interest in block XX to YPFB Chaco and its 30% stake to Petrobras, which will operate the field.
