Providence Starts Drilling at Singleton

Providence Resources has started drilling operations as part of its 2010 drilling programme at the Singleton oilfield in UK.

The Singleton field in the Weald Basin produces 800boepd from seven production wells.

The field is operated by Providence (99.125%) with partner Noble Energy (0.8725%).

The drilling programme comprises sidetracking of the X9 well to a new and more optimal location and the addition of two new lateral sections to the producing X8x well, potentially providing 350boepd of additional cumulative production.

The new X9 well is also designed for future acid fracture stimulation, which would provide further incremental production potential.

Providence chief executive Tony O’ Reilly said the programme will boost daily production rates by over 40% and allow the company to assess the impact of Singleton’s new production technologies, which will form the cornerstone of its field redevelopment activities during the coming years.

Providence is using the BDF-28 drilling rig for operations that are expected to last about six weeks.
