Crimson Exploration begins production at Mosley Woodbine oil well in Texas, US

US-based Crimson Exploration has announced that it has commenced production at the Mosley B #1H Woodbine oil well, located in Madison County, Texas, US.

The well is currently producing at a rate of 1,143 barrels of oil equivalent per day, or 984 barrels of oil, 86 barrels of natural gas liquids and 437 million cubic feet, on a 26/64th choke.

Crimson has drilled the well to a total depth of about 15,366ft, which includes 6,044ft lateral, and was completed with 22 stages of fracture stimulation.

The Payne B #1H, which is currently drilling at 11,925ft, is targeting the Woodbine formation, and includes a total depth of about 15,740ft, with an estimated 6,600 foot lateral.

The well is expected to be completed with 22 stages of fracture stimulation, while first production is expected in May 2013.

Crimson has commenced production at its Covington-Upchurch #1H well in Grimes County, Texas, at a rate of 1,900 million cubic feet per day and 100 barrels of oil.

The Beeler #2H well in Dimmit County, Texas, is currently drilling at a total measured depth of 11,180ft, and is targeting the Buda formation and includes about 4,000ft lateral.

The well is expected to hold about 8,475 gross acres for the Buda formation in the Booth-Tortuga area, and first production is expected in May 2013.

Crimson Exploration president and CEO Allan D. Keel said the Woodbine drilling programme, which includes Mosley B #1H, has averaged 1,184 barrels of oil equivalent per day, and is one of the best in the play.

"In Grimes County, we are very pleased with the rate and pressure performance of the Covington-Upchurch well under severely restricted production conditions and look forward to bringing the well up to its full potential," Keel added.

"We anticipate results from the Beeler #2H in the near future and are optimistic that the Buda formation will provide another opportunity for oil growth in our portfolio."
