Premier Chemicals specialises in the supply of gas purification chemicals, including NanAuCat gold- based oxidation catalyst for carbon monoxide (CO) removal, soda lime (Intersorb, Spherasorb) CO₂ and acid gas removal and calcium chloride (Peladow DG) for gas dehydration.

The firm supplies specialist gas purification products, such as oxidation catalysts and absorbent materials. These products are typically used for the removal of low-level contaminants in breathable and industrial gases.

Oxidation catalyst for removal of carbon dioxide

Premier Chemicals supplies NanAuCat™ oxidation catalyst for the removal of carbon monoxide. NanAuCat is a highly active gold based oxidation catalyst which can oxidise harmful carbon monoxide to the less harmful carbon dioxide.

The catalyst can remove carbon monoxide from breathable and industrial gases. Compared with other precious metal catalysts currently available, gold catalysts such as NanAuCat have demonstrated significantly higher catalytic activity, with lower precious metal content, thereby making them more cost-effective than traditional platinum-based catalysts.

In addition, gold-based catalysts are less susceptible to deactivation by moisture, unlike traditional Hopcalite, Pt or Pt / Pd-based products.

Soda Lime for the elimination of CO₂

Premier Chemicals is the global distributor (outside of North America) of Intersorb® and Spherasorb® soda lime products for the removal of CO2, and other acid gases, in diving and industrial applications.

Intersorb and Spherasorb are manufactured in the UK by Intersurgical Ltd, a global supplier of medical consumables for respiratory care. They are soda lime absorbants that chemically convert gaseous CO₂ to solid calcium carbonate (CaCO3) which is retained within the absorbant, thereby removing CO₂ from the gas stream.

Intersorb® RG is a refinery grade product which removes low levels of acid gases, such as CO₂ and sulphur compounds from petrochemical products.

Anhydrous calcium chloride for hydrocarbon drying

Premier Chemicals are a distributor for Occidental Chemical Corporation’s Peladow® DG, an anhydrous calcium chloride (CaCl2) briquette developed specifically for hydrocarbon drying.

Calcium chloride is widely used as a drying agent in industrial gas applications. It is a versatile chemical, thanks to its deliquescent properties, which means it actively absorbs water until it becomes a liquid (brine).

At ambient temperature anhydrous calcium chloride can absorb its own weight in water, forming hydrated forms of the salt ranging from the dihydrate to hexahydrate. This process makes calcium chloride ideal for use as a desiccant, for example in gas drying applications.

Subsea applications for DSVs

Subsea contractors which serve the oil and gas industry require a number of chemical products for diving gas conditioning on board dive support vessels (DSVs). Premier chemicals can supply the necessary chemicals required by the subsea industry, including soda lime (Intersorb, Spherasorb) for CO₂ removal, NanAuCat oxidation catalyst for carbon monoxide removal, molecular sieve for water removal, activated carbon for volatile organic compound (VOC) removal and potassium permanganate impregnated media for removal of sulphur compounds and other odorous compounds.
